🛬CHEAP FLIGHTS EXTENDED FOR BROOME🛬
The program delivering cheap flights between Broome and Perth has been extended until 2020, with the State Government hailing it a success.

Under a deal with Qantas, the State Government offers flights of $199 (peak season) and $179 (off season) between Broome and Perth for specific weekend flights booked more than 60 days in advance.

Tourism Minister Paul Papalia says the flights had recieved a significant uptake.

"It's attractive for people to visit, it's also not a bad outcome for locals," Mr Papalia said yesterday.

"You can get these affordable flights, 500 extra seats a week coming into Broome, all through the year."

Under the deal, the Government provides Qantas and Broome Airport with support for landing fees and promotion, in return for the cheaper flights.

The Government has declined to reveal how much the deal costs taxpayers, citing commercial confidentiality.

While a similar trial was started in Exmouth last year, no plans have been put forward to deal with the situation in Kununurra and other remote centres, where residents continue to battle skyrocketing airfares.

CAPE LEVEQUE ROAD TO BE SEALED BY NOVEMBER 2020

What do you think about the sealing of the Cape Leveque Road?

With the road expected to be fully sealed by November 2020, visitor numbers are expected to increase by up to 41.35 per cent by 2030, according to a 2018 report by KPP Business Development.

The number of caravans, boats, trailers and heavy vehicles is set to increase, and more travellers are expected during the months of October, November, March, and April - extending the tourist season.

A Central Coast operation is achieving international success in producing some of the best Akoya cultured pearls in the world.

Department of Primary Industries (DPI) Deputy Director General, Fisheries, Dr Geoff Allan, said Broken Bay Pearls is demonstrating the innovation of NSW aquaculture.

“This operation in the sheltered waters surrounding Broken Bay produces some of the best Akoya cultured pearls in the world, which are sold to retail outlets across the state, with the Akoya pearl in high demand globally,” Dr Allan said.

“Broken Bay Pearls is leading the world in terms of quality Akoya production and is leading Australia in terms of a relatively new industry.

“Pearl farms like this one are incredibly valuable to our $70 million aquaculture industry here in NSW.

“The company has developed a range of new techniques to adapt cultured pearl production to the NSW conditions and it is environmentally friendly.”
