What a journey this had been! After 4 wonderful, scary, hard, fulfilling, educational years we are sad to announce that we have sold the Knotty Retreat. This cabin was our first Airbnb that started our journey of vacation rentals and offering a unique experience for guests.

Currently, we have two retreats in the area and look forward to hosting all of you at our other retreats in Pinecrest and Twain Harte. We welcome you to follow the Sweet Retreat and Woodsy Retreat vacation rental pages for updates, specials and information on the cabins.

The Knotty Retreat is nestled in the high Sierra mountains, away from the hustle and bustle. The cabin is located in Cold Springs, Ca five minutes away a from Pinecrest Lake and 15 min from Dodge Ridge Ski Resort. We want your stay at the Knotty Retreat to be stress free so we have provided all the comforts of home so that you don't have to pack as much for your stay. Our cabin has two rooms with queen beds, a loft with a full pull out couch and a futon located in the downstairs livingroom that transforms into a bed with a feather bed topper. All beds have freshly washed linens, down comforters, bamboo pillows and 3 inch memory foam Mattress topper to ensure a peaceful nights sleep. The cabin offers a fully stocked kitchen with pots, pans, dishes and cooking utensils. In the winter months enjoy sledding in front of the property or a day at the slopes. In the summer months enjoy a day at the lake swimming, fishing, paddle boating and more. In the evenings you can enjoy a glass of wine on the porch surrounded by outside patio lighting. Enjoy the wood stove or make a fire in the fire pit outside. In the loft we have a movie library with 200 dvd’s, air hockey table and board games for the kids to enjoy. In the winter our roads are snow plowed daily that creates easy access to the cabin.

It’s hard to believe that last year in February we had one of the biggest snowfall in recorded history, we were digging out, and it was difficult for everyone to even try to make it up!
Well, we don’t have as much natural snowfall this season -
But rest assured, we have TONS of SNOW!!

This weekend’s storm has continued to deliver. Since the storm began Saturday afternoon the total snowfall has measured 13” at the base and 37” at the summit.

This current storm will continue through today, Monday, December 2, with an additional 2 - 3 inches of new snowfall expected. We’ll have a break in the weather for a couple days mid-week before the next winter storm arrives at Dodge Ridge this Friday, delivering 1 to 2 additional feet of snowfall with colder temperatures during this next storm series in the teens to upper 20’s. It’s looking like we will have an amazing Opening Day this Friday, December 6th and we’re just as excited about getting this season started as you are.

Here comes the snow! We are anticipating 2 to 3 feet for fresh powder over the next few days. The temperatures are COLD, with snowfall predicted down to ~2000 feet through Thanksgiving. In anticipation, we are working at full steam to put down a solid base that Mother Nature can build on for a long season on the hill with each and every one of you.

By this time next week we hope to have the entire hill covered in several feet of snow, with a tentative season opening date of December 7, 2019. Please follow us here for the official announcement. We know you can't wait for a day of fun in the snow... neither can we...

SNOWPLAY DATES SET FOR THE SEASON

As of yesterday, Autumn is officially here. Last week we started to see some rapid changes in the weather, with some light snow falling just a few thousand feet above us. The winter season hasn't arrived just yet, but there is no time like the present to start planning your vacation day at Leland Snowplay!

The dates listed here and on our website at snowplay.com are subject to the weather and snow conditions; as long as we have the powder on the ground to safely operate, these will be our dates of operation. We are typically open six days a week (closed Wednesdays), but open seven days a week through the holidays.

We look forward to seeing 40,000 to 50,000 smiling faces on the hill this season... just not all at once, please. As you can see on our calendar, we continue to maintain separate weekend/holiday versus reduced midweek pricing. We encourage everyone to plan their visit when you can take advantage of our lower prices pricing, as well as the much smaller crowds. The number one complaint we received (especially to start the season) is the crowds a wildly popular destination like Leland Snowplay receives on weekends and holidays. It CAN't be helped, and we HATE having to turn people away on those rare VERY busy days. Hence, the reduced pricing incentive. Please take advantage of it!

We hope to kick off the season in the next 8 to 10 weeks (weather permitting) and can't wait to see each and every one of you on the hill this season!
