Historic Creek Street in Ketchikan, Alaska, a short walk from the port, is not to be missed! Once known as a Red Light District, today it is a boardwalk filled with quaint shops, galleries, and restaurants. If you are in Ketchikan during the last half of June to the first week of July, you might see thousands of salmon spawning in the creek below. And where there are salmon, you’re likely to find seals, otters, eagles and bears not too far away. Sure hoping my group gets to enjoy this unique experience in 2021!

Sea lions are just some of the animals you can see in Alaska! Depending on when and where you go, you have the chance to spot brown bears, moose, bald eagles, whales, dolphins, seals, sea otters and other marine life. Many of the boat tour operators are so confident about seeing whales that they offer a money-back guarantee! Salmon runs are another must-do experience in Alaska. If you don’t happen to be there when they are spawning, you can learn more about it at the Macaulay Salmon Hatchery in Juneau.

Another bucket list adventure of mine is to see more of this! Margarie Glacier, taken aboard a Holland America cruise in Glacier Bay, just whet my appetite to see more of Alaska. The mainland of Alaska promises taller mountains, more wildlife, and even higher glaciers! This vacation was in the plans for this year but had to be postponed until June 2021. Anyone have Alaska on your bucket list and want to join us? I am putting together a group for this trip! Just check out the link to my blog below for more details.

No trip to the Canadian Rockies is complete without seeing world famous Lake Louise! We visited in late May so the lake was thawing and there was snow on the nearby mountains. The turquoise lake fed by Victoria Glacier, which is visible in the background, is truly a sight to behold! You can take it all in by staying overnight at the majestic Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise or simply enjoy afternoon tea or an evening cocktail overlooking the lake. Ice skating on the lake is available in the winter and canoeing is an option in the summer. Hiking and snow skiing also are popular in this area. I’m ready to go back… who’s in?

Shops, boutiques and restaurants line the main thoroughfare in the resort town of Banff, Alberta, Canada, a highlight of any trip to the Canadian Rockies! Located within Banff National Park, visitors can find wildlife, awe-inspiring mountains and lakes, and numerous outdoor activities. When we got off the Rocky Mountaineer train in Banff, it was blowing snow and there was a roaming elk at the train station to greet us. What a moment to experience!

Topping my travel bucket list is a train adventure across Canada. I think it’s time to return to the beauty of this country! It was a Rocky Mountaineer rail vacation several years ago that sold me on this awesome scenery. Add to that the warmth of the Canadian people and you have a real winner here!

Rediscovering America's Natural Beauty

Make scenic connections right in your own backyard!

travelpulse.com Americans now more than ever are itching to go outside and explore the world around them - without getting sick. Here's how.

The best part of hiking the Grand Canyon is stopping for a break! The Bright Angel Trail didn’t disappoint. To make this visit a little “extra-special,” my daughter and I took the Grand Canyon Railway from Williams to the South Rim and stayed overnight in the park. It is one of the rail adventures I mention in an article I wrote for Vacation Agent magazine. https://www.travelpulse.com/articles/cruise/the-lure-of-the-rails.html

Our Story

Scenic Connections is linking travelers to spectacular scenery through personal-touch planning, up-to-date expertise, and value-added experiences! We cater to leisure travelers who want to explore the natural beauty found throughout the world as well as learn more about the places they visit. It's taken a while to get to this point, but our story all started in a small town in West Virginia.

I grew up in a small town in West Virginia in a valley surrounded by mountains. I remember so vividly the colors of fall, the beauty of fresh-fallen snow, and the simple joys of nature year-round. I didn’t have to go far to find peacefulness on country roads and in rocky streams and waterfalls. I guess that’s where my love for natural beauty started.

Fast forward to my life today. I have been an international exchange student, spending a year with a host family in Venezuela through AFS Intercultural Programs. I have been spent 12 years in the journalism field, writing and editing for both a newspaper and a national trade publication. I was a Spanish teacher for 12 years in my local school district, sharing my experiences in the hopes of inspiring young people. And I have worked to support and help volunteers and families build relationships with students from other countries through the same organization I traveled with years before. When I look back, it is clear to see that travel, intercultural education, and helping others has always been a part of who I am.

My ideal clients are those leisure travelers who share this same stage in life, looking to go and see, experience something new, and learn more about the places they visit. I love to help with bucket-list destinations that feature spectacular scenery!

In addition to seeing the natural beauty throughout the world, I want my clients to experience something unique and special when they go on a trip that I have planned for them. And I want them to come back home feeling like this vacation was everything they hoped it would be… and more.

I have always been the planner in the family! I strive to find those unique experiences that really make a vacation special. I work hard to get to know my clients because “special” can mean different things to different people. And I’m a firm believer that quality is in the details, and that is something I bring to each trip I plan. I walk through every step of every itinerary in my mind to ensure that my clients experience a smooth and stress-free vacation.

I know that education is key to making that happen and, to that end, I have completed training to become a Certified Travel Associate (CTA) from The Travel Institute. I am also a Certified Accessible Travel Advocate with the goal of helping those with limited mobility and their companions discover and access scenic destinations. I stay current by attending a variety of trade shows and trainings annually. And I partner with companies that I feel confident will deliver the experiences that align with my personal approach to travel. Check out my agent profile as part of Travel Leaders network!

It is my hope that you will give me the opportunity to show you what I can do! Whether it's a special vacation, a bucket-list destination, or a group getaway, I will provide that personal touch you can't find on the Internet. Areas of specialization include Alaska; Hawaii; Western U.S.; Canada; Ireland; European River Cruises, Land and Rail Tours; and Australia/New Zealand. I am also open to finding the best values on vacation packages and cruises in the Caribbean and other parts of the world.

Please contact us and we will make it our mission to create a Scenic Connection just for you!
