Condo located on Playa Colorado (surf spot) If you want to get barreled, Playa Colorado is the place to visit in Nicaragua. The secret is out and you won’t be surfing this spot alone but if it turns on, you will likely get one of the best barrels of your life. Playa Colorado is a private beach and is accessed by either staying inside Hacienda Iguana (a private beach and golf resort) or by boat. This wave can work on all tides, changes personalities frequently and can dish out a beating. ADVICE: Stay inside Hacienda Iguana if you want to score Playa Colorado – if you can time the boats and the crowd you can still score an empty line-up here. Short walk to Panga Drops (surf spot) If you want a solid wave across all of the criteria, look no further than Panga Drops. If you value a wave that is fun most of the time, doesn’t really ever get too crowded and can be enjoyed by most skill levels, you have to consider Panga Drops. Located at the North end of Playa Colorado, this wave is a deep-water, horseshoe reef which magnifies swell and throws shifty lefts and rights at you. It breaks at all tides, on all swells and all times of the year. Hacienda Iguana's incredibly beautiful white sand beach is over one-mile long with crystal clear water and incredible sunsets. Aside from great golf, you can enjoy one of Nicaragua’s most breathtaking beaches recognized internationally as one of the top surfing destinations in the country. We happen to have two of the best surf breaks in Nicaragua, Colorado and Panga Drops. Unlike Costa Rica or El Salvador, this small area of Nicaragua has year round deep water swell and 300+ days a year of all 24 hour offshore winds blowing in from Lake Nicaragua. No matter what kind of board you ride there are at least 8-10 breaks in the area just for you. This Resort offers a very unique environment that you won't find anywhere else in Central America. Golf Within the resort there is a well-manicured and pleasantly landscaped 9-hole course shaped to the natural contours of the coast. The course, which opened in 2004, is one of Nicaragua’s best-kept sporting secrets, despite being affordable and fun. Designed by Niels Oldenburg, the course features some tricky holes. Such as a tough up hill green on hole 4, a large tree in the fairway that swats down your drive on hole 3, and a water trap on hole 8 that is home to Omar the caiman. The highlight of the course is the spectacular 470-yard par-5 on the 5th hole. The blue tee box is located on the top of a steep hill more than 90 feet above the fairway.
