Crane Orchards U-Pick and Corn Maze
Look at that view! 😍
Come get lost in our 20 acre corn maze, dedicated to healthcare workers this year. Open daily 10am-6pm through the end of the season, the maze takes about an hour to complete on average.
🍎 This week we are picking Ida Red and Rome apples through the weekend. On Thursday the 15th we are opening our last two Apple varieties of the year, Late Fuji and Braeburn. They are lighter crops for these two varieties, so they may not last through the weekend.
Update: We are all done picking Fuji and Braeburn.
🎃 Our pumpkin patch is still open with pumpkins at $.45/lb.
We have had unprecedented crowds come to our orchard this year, for which we are grateful to be able to offer a fun family activity that is safe for everyone. With the high numbers of guests coming out to pick, it appears we may be running out of apples to pick a little early this year, likely after this weekend. While there may not be apples on the trees to pick after this upcoming weekend, we will still be open for our Corn Maze daily through October 25th, and will continue to offer pre-picked apples while supplies last.
The varieties we have for pre-picked 1/2 bushel boxes are Jonagold and Gala for $28, and Honeycrisp for $35.
We look forward to seeing everyone this weekend, and appreciate everyone that has come out to support our Orchard.

Endurance horseback riding competition is going to be held in Allegan County October 12th and 13th.
Endurance riders hit the trail~
The world’s fastest growing equine sport, endurance riding, combines the appreciation for nature of a trail ride with the athleticism of endurance sports. This October 11th, riders will be hauling their trailers from miles around to converge on trails in Allegan County for the 19th annual Oak Leaf Run Endurance Ride held on October 12th and 13th held at Silver Creek Park in Hamilton, Michigan.
Riders will choose distances of 25, 30, 50 or 75 miles. The ride also offers a 15-mile introductory ride. Local riders are welcome to come experience what an AERC ride is like if their equine can do that mileage at a comfortable pace.
The night before the ride, their horses will be examined by a ride veterinarian. There will be mandatory veterinary checks/holds during the ride and again after the finish.
Riders will be crossing the Allegan Dam between 8:30 am - 1:00 pm on October 12th.
The public is invited to come out to cheer on the riders and their horses. Volunteer positions are also open; for those interested in finding out more about endurance riding, a turn as a veterinarian’s assistant or timer is a great way to learn about the sport.
The Oak Leaf Run Endurance Ride is sanctioned by the American Endurance Ride Conference (AERC), the national governing body for endurance riding. Established in 1972, the nonprofit association has 5,000 members across the U.S. and Canada. Members can choose their level of competitiveness—while many riders choose to shoot for steady pacing, others are highly competitive and may aim for competing internationally in this growing sport. AERC has awards programs based on mileage achievements for horses and riders as well as an annual award program, with honors given out at their national convention.
All breeds of horses are welcome in the sport, and riders range in age from juniors through 80-something endurance enthusiasts.
For information about the Oak Leaf Run Endurance Ride, contact ride manager Barb at 616-460-8041 or [email protected]. For more information about AERC, visit www.aerc.org, or phone 866-271-2372 for a free information packet.
