[04/01/20]   We needed a virtual vacation to our favorite city today! Thanks to our friends at La Colección Resorts and Live Aqua Urban Resort San Miguel De Allende for taking us back! We had a chance to explore Live Aqua Urban Resort San Miguel last year and immediately fell head over heels with this brand new at the time hotel! Live Aqua San Miguel blends the art and architecture of San Miguel de Allende with a hint of contemporary, lots of relaxation and some fun elements of chic whimsy (record players? claw foot tub with rubber ducky? Yes please!).

Close to the Fabrica La Aurora and walking distance to the Artisan Market, but with a tucked away resort atmosphere, Live Aqua is the perfect balance of location and escape. Enjoy the video and then check-out our Facebook album with our own photos of Live Aqua.

Normally we try to fill our accounts with fun photos and loads of travel inspiration. Today we decided to talk about travel insurance though. We know, we know.... say insurance and we can almost hear the groans and see the eye rolls. Over the years we've heard a lot of reasons why clients don't feel they need insurance

“I’m going on this trip no matter what”
“My whole family is healthy, I’m not worried about not being able to travel”
“My health insurance will cover me if anything happens”
“I have insurance through my credit card”
“I have never needed insurance I’ve purchased so I don’t think I need it now”

We’ve heard all of these and more. BUT have you ever thought about the “what ifs”? What if something did happen? What if you did need it? Foreign health systems do not work like emergency rooms in the USA, you are not entitled to assessment and treatment regardless of your ability to pay. Your US health insurance in most cases will also not reimburse for foreign health care.

Have you researched your options? Are you sure your credit card has insurance to cover your package? A number of cards only cover rental vehicles and travelers may find that they didn’t have coverage for medical, trip cancellation or interruption when they thought they did.

Ask any travel advisor and you will hear story after story of the unexpected and how insurance saved the day, or lack of insurance created issue after issue. We all have a list of things we’ve seen happen that add value to protecting your trip. Last week though, one of our own got to add personal experience to her list of reasons to purchase insurance. Something as simple as a missed step with a trip + fall led to daily clinic visits, follow-up treatment in the US and medical costs that were higher than the combined cost of her few years of travel insurance policies that she didn’t use. Every day her insurer’s medical team checked in with her (thanks @travelguard !) And when there was a question of being cleared to fly she was able to rest easy knowing they would step in and get her home medically if she couldn’t fly commercially.

At the end of the day it didn’t matter about all of the other times she purchased insurance and didn’t use it. What did matter, is when in fact insurance was needed, it was there. So the next time you think of waiving insurance think about the “what ifs” and if you (or your family) would be prepared to cover the cost.

THEN plan your next trip and get that insurance! 🌐 ❤️
