The Disneyland Resort in California will be temporarily closed beginning on Saturday, March 14, 2020.

Update on Disneyland Resort Operations

While there have been no reported cases of COVID-19 at Disneyland Resort, after carefully reviewing the guidelines of the Governor of California’s executive order and in the best interest of our guests and employees, we are proceeding with the closure of Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, beginning the morning of March 14 through the end of the month.

The Hotels of Disneyland Resort will remain open until Monday, March 16 to give guests the ability to make necessary travel arrangements; Downtown Disney will remain open. We will monitor the ongoing situation and follow the advice and guidance of federal and state officials and health agencies. Disney will continue to pay cast members during this time.

Disneyland Resort will work with guests who wish to change or cancel their visits, and will provide refunds to those who have hotel bookings during this closure period. We anticipate heavy call volume over the next several days and appreciate guests’ patience as we work hard to respond to all inquiries.

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

The Coronavirus is generally dry. No mucus, no running of any kind. Sore throat is the first major indicator.

There are less than 200 cases in the US. Of the reported 164, 110 haven’t been verified yet. Updated this evening to 423 cases. Not all confirmed.

There are 329.45 million people in the US, so the odds are very low of contracting this. Only 16% of cases have been serious. Mortality rate is 3% and is occurring in the elderly with compromised immune systems or pre-existing respiratory conditions primarily. Flu has a 10% mortality rate.

Be smart. Wash your hands, avoid people who appear ill, and if you are traveling use airborne or other tested and approved immune boosting supplements.

Education is key here. People are understandably concerned, but there are preventative measures. And the illness is not necessarily going to be serious if it is contracted. It is being contained here in the US. The numbers are very very small.

I am keeping on top of the info for myself and family but also for my travel clients. I’m getting regular updates through my travel agency as well.

Here are the new Disney Park rules. Going into effect May 1st.

Tips: Single umbrella strollers with storage under or add-on storage to the back are a great option. I also have clips I use to clip two together. I’ll have to measure to see if it meets the requirements. It might be close.

Frozen water bottles can be used as ice. I use 2 in a cinch sack or cooler bag - I use a large purse one - with 3/4 water bottles. It keeps everything cool.

Smokers may want to plan around their day. I used to smoke ages ago so I get it. Plan to have one prior to going in. Maybe work your way towards the back of the parks first and head towards the front as the day progresses so if you need a smoke break you can easily walk out to the designated area.
