By popular demand we are sharing a selection of images from the Museum's exhibit, The Candid Camera before it closes June 3, 2019!
In 1961, O’Keeffe traveled with Lucille and Todd Webb along with a dozen other friends on a ten-day raft trip down the Colorado River to Glen Canyon, Utah. After the trip, Webb presented O’Keeffe with an album of photographs from their shared experience. With his camera focused on the artist, he also framed the extraordinary beauty of the canyons accessible only on the water.

Join Geologist Kirt Kempter this Saturday, May 11, 2019 for a hike to the north rim of Copper Canyon. Perched at the boundary of the Rio Grande Rift and the Colorado Plateau, the rock units of Copper Canyon reveal a fascinating tale of landscape evolution through time. You'll enjoy views of the Rio Chama Valley, Cerro Pedernal, the northern Jemez Mountains, and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The tour highlight will be a 2.5 mile roundtrip hike (easy to moderate) on an old logging road to a spectacular overlook of Copper Canyon on the eastern rim of the Colorado Plateau. Cost: $100 donation to the Abiquiu Volunteer Fire Department.

Fishing Report for all our fishermen/women out there..... Thanks New Mexico Department of Game and Fish for the report. Water levels rising!
Abiquiu Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using crank baits, minnows, bottom bouncer/night crawler rigs and curly tail grubs for walleye and smallmouth bass. Trout fishing from boats and from the bank this past week was good for anglers using worms, spinners and minnows. The water level continues to rise, but launching boats is still quite difficult and 4-wheel drive is required.

Select a painting from the navigational menu on the right and zoom into the landscape to see Georgia’s perspective. The tool gives you the option to toggle between a three dimensional scene or two dimensional map. Zoom, pan, and rotate the map to explore painting sites.
