The Iroquois Nationals lacrosse team hadn't been invited to the 2022 World Games — despite the Haudenosaunee being the originators of lacrosse. So Ireland's team dropped out to let them have their spot in the tournament.
"They need to be there," an Irish player says.

While we ait for the air quality to improve you can see recent History Bites recordings at the link below. Thank you Albany Regional Museum!
Rain is in the forecast but not for 9/16/2020. Air quality is still expected to be unhealthy/hazardous and we will not be able to vent the Museum just yet. We will be closed for 9/16/2020. Unfortunately our History Bites presentation will be rescheduled for a second time as the presenter is not 100% and the presentation would suffer for it. We will reschedule and update you as soon as we can. Until then you can catch up on our past History Bites videos here on Facebook or over on our Youtube Channel, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1tFHH6aGqDU5iFwcQkTrxQ

The Albany Pix Theatre offers showings with captions! They also have a new air purifier that eliminates airborne particulates, odors and pathogens including SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19).
Since were once again opening new titles, thought we'd get back to our practice of running Open Caption Showtimes for our friends in the community with hearing accessibility issues.
Our evening showtimes next Sunday - Tuesday (Sept 13-15) will be presented with Open Captions (Subtitles will appear onscreen).

Albany Oregon Police Department
As we go to sleep tonight with heavy hearts for our friends and family in turmoil from the wildfires, just remember...19 years ago 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,997 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning. 343 firefighters and 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for their morning patrol. None of them saw past 10:00am Sept 11, 2001. In one single moment, life may never be the same. So just for now, be grateful. We are resilient. Tonight, before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted. #wereallinthistogether

There are currently no active fires in Albany, but fires from surrounding areas and extreme weather conditions have created an unhealthy air quality. It is NOT a good day to play outside. It is a good day to stay inside, keep your windows closed, take the day off from outdoor exercise. Please help by keeping the 911 lines clear for emergencies. Our thoughts go out to those who are directly affected. Stay healthy and safe.

Always plan ahead. There are seven active wildfires in Oregon right now — and you can prevent more from happening.
