I have been bringing different size groups to the Nantahala gorge, rafting for the last 8 years. We have always used the services of ERA. We have never!!! had a bad time. They are family friendly and a non corporate feel. Facilities are perfect, with the store, facilities, buses, etc. We usually get there early and set up a picnic spot by the river at Ferebee wayside park. Then we raft and have a cook out by the river and usually a mean game of ultimate frisbee. My 2 boys have grown up here and will be going back long after I'm gone. I hope ERA will still be there for there kids.

Could you give us out of state people a breakdown of the North Carolina rules for visitors to the Nantahala Gorge? Any idea of when campgrounds will open? Are visitors allowed to come into the gorge and paddle without the self quarantine? etc. thanks for any help you can be. is retail open at ERA? thanks

BLUF: Paddling instruction under Endless River is worth the cost! I have been a whitewater kayaker for 2 years and love for this sport makes me want to go to the next level. While I could ferry like a boss and had a decent onside roll I knew I needed work on stroke efficiency. At first I was sceptical as to whether this personal kayaking instruction was worth the cost. Now one month out from my class with Michael Taylor, my boating skills are solidly on the next level: I now have a bomb proof roll right and left and my paddling buddies have remarked how my paddling has become much more fluid and efficient. For me, I had to understand that I was doing things to make my strokes inefficient, having the humility to understand that and then trust the person teaching it. Michael Taylor is has solid paddling credentials and is an excellent instructor.

The Green Race

This year's bibs are dedicated to the thousands of healthcare workers on the front lines. Healthcare workers, especially those working in intensive care, are the soldiers of today (co-organizer Jason Hale is one of those on the frontline). While many folks have the privilege to stay home they haven't stopped for a second.

This is why we're asking spectators to take a year off. Live strong, seize each day, but do it in a way that does all the things we all know. Wear a face-covering, socialize outdoors, keep some distance.
